Cooling

Air Conditioning Repair in Philadelphia and Delaware County

When the first heat wave hits, a struggling AC gets exposed fast. We repair central air conditioners and restore cooling.

An air conditioner fails in a few common ways: low refrigerant from a leak, a dirty or frozen coil, a failing capacitor or motor, or a clogged drain. Each one has its own symptoms, and guessing wastes money.

We diagnose the whole system, indoor and outdoor, then explain the problem and the fix. If your system is old and repairs are piling up, we will also tell you honestly when a replacement makes more sense.

Signs you need air conditioning repair

  • Air from vents is warm or not cold enough
  • Ice on the indoor coil or refrigerant lines
  • Outdoor unit not running or humming without starting
  • Water leaking near the indoor unit
  • System turning on and off repeatedly
  • Rooms cooling unevenly or humidity staying high

What we check

  1. Check refrigerant charge and look for leaks
  2. Test capacitor, contactor and compressor
  3. Inspect indoor and outdoor coils and fan motors
  4. Clear the condensate drain and check the float switch
  5. Verify thermostat operation and airflow

Common questions

Why is my AC running but not cooling?

Common causes are low refrigerant, a dirty or frozen coil, a failed compressor capacitor or a blocked filter. A technician can narrow it down by testing pressures and electrical components.

Why is there ice on my AC unit?

Ice usually means restricted airflow or low refrigerant. Turn the system off to let it thaw and call for service. Running it frozen can damage the compressor.

Is it better to repair or replace an older AC?

Age, repair cost and the type of refrigerant all play a role. Use our home page calculator for a rule of thumb, and a technician will give a straight recommendation on site.
