Walk-In Freezer Repair in Philadelphia and Delaware County

A freezer that stops holding temperature can lose thousands in product in hours. We find the failure and get it back to setpoint.

Walk-in freezers depend on a defrost cycle that melts coil frost on schedule. When a defrost heater, termination switch or timer fails, ice builds until airflow stops and the box warms, often while the compressor keeps running and looks fine from the outside.

Our technicians trace freezer problems end to end: controls, defrost system, fans, compressor and the box itself. We also look for the quiet causes, such as a failed door heater or torn gasket, that make a freezer work harder and fail sooner.

Signs you need walk-in freezer repair

  • Freezer temperature creeping above setpoint
  • Heavy ice on the evaporator coil or fan housing
  • Ice forming around the door frame or on the floor
  • Water dripping from the evaporator during defrost
  • Compressor runs nonstop or cycles on and off rapidly
  • Frost on product or shelving that was never there before

What we check

  2. Test defrost heaters, termination switch and timer or board
  3. Inspect evaporator coil, fans and drain line

Common questions

Why is there ice all over my walk-in freezer coil?

The usual culprit is a defrost problem: a failed heater, a bad termination switch, a defrost timer or controller fault, or a blocked drain that refreezes. Ice also forms faster when door gaskets leak humid air into the box.

Can I fix a frozen coil by turning the freezer off?

Shutting the box down to thaw ice can clear the symptom, but the ice will return if the defrost system is faulty. Have a technician find out why it iced up so it stays fixed.

What should I do with product during a freezer failure?

Keep the door closed to hold cold as long as possible, and move product to working freezers or a backup source if the failure will last. Call us as soon as you notice rising temperature.
